Sea Angling
Portrush Yacht Club Sea Angling section was formed over 30 years ago with the aim of promoting sea angling on the Causeway Coast.
One of the earliest members was the late Joe Mullan, who was, for many years, president of the Ulster Federation of Sea Anglers.
PYC is affiliated to the Irish Federation of Sea Anglers, which sets the rules for all angling competitions, provides insurance for members of boat and shore angling clubs, and organises the open competition calendar for all Ireland.
Members of PYC fish a number of both boat and shore competitions each year, competing for entry to the all Ireland master angler boat and shore championships. The best five anglers in each of these championships represent Ireland in the World Fishing Games of that year. One of our members is a past captain of the Ireland Team who led Ireland in the World Fishing Games in 2005.
Our members have achieved numerous successes, having fished in a number of international and interprovincial teams and winning numerous Ulster and All Ireland gold medals.
We hold an Open Shore competition each year on Benone Strand which is open to all Federation anglers.
If you wish to join the Sea Angling section please contact Alex Millar(Rear Commodore), Thomas Porter (Secretary) or Tim Nelson(Treasurer) at Portrush Yacht Club, 7 Harbour Road, Portrush.
